What are Flat Feet?

 

Flat feet are a condition in which the arch of the foot is depressed and the sole of the foot is almost completely in contact with the ground. Standing about 20-30% of the population generally has flat feet because their arch never formed during growth.

Kyle Irving Played with Strained Foot

foot-ankle-injuriesKyle Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers had scored just 11 points on 3-for-13 shooting in the team’s game against the Chicago Bulls when it was revealed post game that he was playing on a strained right foot. Irving claimed to notice the injury in Game 2 of Cleveland’s first-round series against the Boston Celtics. He underwent tests shortly within the week. “I have been trying to get treatment since then,” Irving said. “I just have to stay ready to play. There are no excuses. And I have to play through it.”

Michal Rozsival breaks Ankle in Game

foot-ankle-injuriesDuring a game against the Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Michal Rozsival lost his balance while skating backward and broke his ankle. According to a statement from the Blackhawks through Dr. Michael Terry, Rozsival suffered a fractured left ankle. The defenseman will require surgery to repair it and is not expected to return to full hockey activity until next season.

Broken Ankles
The ankle consists of three bones- the tibia, the fibula, and the talus. The tibia and the fibula are the two bones that connect to your knees. They sit directly above the talus bone, which is protected by a fibrous membrane and allows slight movement in the ankle joint. A break usually occurs in one of these bones after the foot is twisted too far, a strong impact like jumping from a great height, or repeated stresses like running.

Diagnosis
